How to Prevent Mask-ne (Rash from wearing a facemask)

How to Prevent Mask-ne (Rash from wearing a facemask)

As if trying to avoid Covid-19 wasn’t enough to deal with, many adults are experiencing skin irritation, and breakouts from one of the tools meant to keep us safe – face masks  - commonly known as PPE or Personal Protective Equipment.

The last thing we want to do is use the wrong type of skincare and injure our skin further or make it breakout further!  That’s where the clean formulas of V10Plus USA can make a huge difference!

First let’s look at exactly what causes Mask-ne!  Mask-ne is caused by excessive friction of our masks on our skin.  Wearing a mask for hours at a time breaks down the skin barrier – the top healthy layer of skin meant to keep in hydration and act as barrier to bacteria.  Exfoliating our skin removes the top dead layer of skin.  If we do not do this often enough those dead skin cells are rubbed off from the friction of our masks, along with the healthy protective layer underneath, and then the problem is made even worse.  Excessive or harsh exfoliation causes excess sebum (oil) to be produced.   Dead skin cells, oil and dirt commonly cause whiteheads.  Health care workers who need to wear N-95 masks, often for shifts of 10-12 hours a day, are prone to experiencing more breakouts and irritation as those type of masks are custom made for a tighter fit.

Let’s take a look at how to protect your skin and why V10Plus USA products are superior!  The key is to reduce bacteria and inflammation of your skin while keeping hydration in!  Starting with something everyone should do, whether they are breaking out or not, is to wear a soft, clean mask.   Find the softest mask you can, which is breathable.  The fabric softness will cause less friction.  Wash your mask often!  If using paper masks, do not keep reusing the same one as they will become soiled allowing bacteria to multiply.  Traditional products for fighting acne contain Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic Acid.  If you’ve ever used them you know how irritating, drying and aggravating they are to your skin.  Slathering on a thick moisture barrier will clog your pores and cause more breakouts.

How does V10Plus do it differently?  First our formulas are water based meaning they will not clog your pores!  We use the best ingredients found in nature that are anti-inflammatory, to exfoliate gently but effectively and lock in hydration!   Our Sensitive Skin Serum series will give you further protection if you tend to have sensitive skin to begin with!    Our Water Based Peel removes the dead layer of skin gently without abrasive scrubbing!  Keep your face clean without stripping it by washing it with our Ceramide Cleanser or Soothing Cleansing Milk.   Next apply our Acne Treatment trio of serums:  Pycnogenol, Vitamin C and Licorice which are formulated specifically to fight acne, inflammation, and to keep skin soft and hydrated but never greasy!  Then moisturize, moisturize each day with our clean moisturizer of choice – Day Milk Gel, All in One Gel or Deep Moist Gel.  While you sleep our Okinawa Deep Sea Mask or our Night Gel will hydrate and nourish your skin!   All V10Plus skincare is Gluten Free, Toxin Free and never tested on animals!

Beat Mask-ne and stay safe by wearing a soft, clean mask.  Care for your skin by gently exfoliating, cleansing, treating inflammation and acne with non-aggravating, drying products, and lock in moisture that won’t further clog your pores the V10Plus way!
